The 1988 Schwinn Circuit was built at an interesting time in the company's history. The Paramount was celebrating 50 years of high end frame construction in Waterford and a new factory was built in Greenville, Mississippi to build the Circuit and other Schwinn branded frames. To compete with the Europeans of the period the Circuit is a lugged steel frame featuring Columbus SL tubing with chrome aero fork blades and seat stays. Shimano's novel Santé groupo was selected to complement the aero features of the frame and matching white bar tape and a white saddle finished the look.
The Circuits were measured in inches at the time so they considered this a 22" frame in their catalog. Since we speak metric around here the frame is a 56cm measured center to top and 55cm center to center. The top tube measures 54.5cm and has a 73 degree head angle with a 74 degree seat angle. 100mm stem with 40cm bars round out the build that comes in right at 21lbs or 9.5kgs.
This Circuit still wears its original paint with wear that is to be expected for its age. The Santé cranks and brake calipers have been swapped for Tri-color 600 Ultegra units. Everything functions as it should including Shimano's revolutionary indexed downtube shifters! Feel free to message us with questions or to arrange a time to see the bike. We'll also professionally pack and ship worldwide if needed.
